Definition

  • The Environment Agency is involved in developing national surveillance techniques for monitoring the state of the environment, including marine surveillance, management of national databases, including those involving coastal data, production of reports, web pages and other media to form an opinion on the state of pollution of the environment. The Inter-Agency Committee on Marine Science and Technology (IACMST) maintains an overview of marine activities across Government. It encourages links between Government and the national marine community, the wider application of marine science and technology, optimum use of major UK marine facilities, training and education and international links.
