Definition
- The Columbia Environmental Research Center is one of 18 science centers in the U.S. Geological Survey. This center was established in 1959 at the Denver Wildlife Research Center of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. The Research Center is located on a 33-acre site two miles southeast of Columbia, MO. This is the only USGS research laboratory capable of conducting research on highly toxic compounds, such as dioxin CERC is certified to conduct and carry out scientific missions, goals, and objectives. These capabilities constitute specific units of scientific specialization and disciplines, which is very vital to the overall capabilities, and expertise of the Center.
