LOIS
Definition
- The Land Ocean Interaction Study (LOIS) is a Community Research Project of the Natural Environment Research Council of the United Kingdom. The broad aim of LOIS is to gain an understanding of, and an ability to predict, the nature of environmental change in the coastal zone around the UK. The LOIS CRP will provide for the first time an integrated, holistic view of how coastal ecosystems work, and how they are likely to respond to future environmental changes caused by the activities of people, on land and at sea. LOIS projects include the River-Atmosphere-Coast Study (RACS) and the Shelf-Edge Study (SES). Data collection, analysis, and data archival are performed by research centers and universities around the UK. (en)
