- The Canadian Museum of Nature is located in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It is more than a natural history museum that creates and develops exhibitions for public viewing. Behind the public face is a vibrant, multi-layered, multi-faceted organization composed of research scientists, collection specialists, education and multimedia specialists, and innovators. The Canadian Museum of Nature has embarked on an extensive Renewal Project that will continue from 2004 to 2009. Supporters of the Natural Partnerships Campaign provide critical support for the Canadian Museum of Nature's renewal strategy. With more than 10 million specimens gathered over more than 150 years and covering four billion years of Earth history, the Canadian Museum of Nature keeps one of Canada's most valuable assets. The museum's 24 major science collections represent Botany, Vertebrates, Invertebrates and the Earth Sciences. Holdings also include a Library containing over 43,000 books and 100,000 volumes of periodicals. Nature's Archives keep a nature art collection, a photo collection and our institutional archives. Several Web sites provide online access to data from several of the Canadian Museum of Nature's collections.
