Definition
- A CLOUD TOP SPECTROMETER is a spectroscope used for obtaining a mass spectrum by deflecting ions into a thin slit and measuring the ion current with an electrometer; measures and obtains spectra for a given cloud or cloud layer, which is considered the highest level in the atmosphere at which the air contains a perceptible quantity of cloud particles.
