Definition
- U.S. STORM Hourly Surface Wind Profiler Network Data is a historical digital data set archived at the National Climatic Data Center (NCDC). This data set is from the Wind Profiler Network (WPN), part of the National Storm Operational Research Project (STORM). This project is being carried out by the National Climatic Data Center (NCDC) Asheville, North Carolina, and the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Forecast Systems Laboratory in Boulder, Colorado. The network consists of ground stations located in the eastern 2/3 of the United States measuring surface temperature, dew point temperature, pressure, relative humidity, wind speed and direction, and total precipitation at hourly intervals. This surface data are averaged over the previous hour at each wind profiler site. The data processing level is II a and the spatial resolution is 300 km.
