Definition
- The Istituto di Chimica Biomolecolare (ICB) is among the new institutes founded by the CNR, the one with a high uniformity from scientific and cultural points of view despite the fact it is widely distributed on the national territory. The main branch of the Institute is in Pozzuoli (Naples), other branches are in Catania, Roma, Padova and Sassari. As a whole the ICB is constituted by 152 personal units (researcher-technologist: 74; associate researcher: 24; administrative staff: 48; univeristy based administrative staff: 6). The ICB originates from 6 member institutes of the CNR (3 Institutes and 3 Centres) all previosly belonging to National Committee of Chemical Sciences and, in the period from 1996 to 1999, all taking part of dellâIstituto Nazionale di Coordinamento âChimica dei Sistemi Biologiciâ (INC - CSB). The ICB focused its research activities on: -ISOLATION, CHARACTERIZATION, AND STRUCTURE-ACTIVITY RELATIONSHIPS: -SYNTHESIS, PROPERTIES AND DESIGN -NEW METHODOLOGIES -BIOTECHNOLOGICAL DEVELOPMENT OF BIOMASSES AND OF BIOLOGICALLY INTERESTING COMPOUNDS Additional information can be found at "http://www.icmib.na.cnr.it/" (en)
