Definition
- The CDPP (Centre de Données de la Physique des Plasmas) is the national data centre in France for the solar system plasmas, serving the space plasma physics community. The CDPP has been created in 1998 by both the CNES (Centre National d'Etudes Spatiales) and the CNRS (Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique). The CDPP is a member of the PNST (Programme National Soleil-Terre) and of the ASOV (Action Spécifique Observatoire Virtuel). The primary purpose of the CDPP is to assure long-term preservation of data relevant to the physics of naturally occurring plasmas in the solar system, especially data from experiments which are either French or have strong French participation. The data archived and rendered accessible at CDPP were obtained for more than 30 years aboard satellites or from ground observatories. The CDPP continuously improves its data exploitation capabilities in order to facilitate detailed scientific investigations. For that, the CDPP develops tools and services helping data extraction, treatment and analysis.
