- The mission of the Instituto de Biologia of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México is to catalogue the species diversity of flora and fauna of Mexico, to understand their evolutionary relationships, to characterize and understand the mechanisms responsible for their current and past distribution, and ultimately, to elucidate the processes responsible for biological diversity.
