MOCNESS
Definition
- The MOCNESS is a computer controlled net system used to collect plankton samples from specific depths in the water column. As the net system is towed through the water, individual nets can be opened within target depth 'bins.' This ability to collect samples from discrete depths allows researchers to determine the vertical distribution of the organisms they are studying.
