NORDIC-WOCE
Definition
- The principal scientific goal in Nordic WOCE is to study the exchange of heat and water between the North Atlantic and Nordic Seas (Greenland, Iceland and Norwegian Seas). A part of the exchange takes place in the Denmark Strait between Iceland and Greenland and the rest between Iceland and Scotland. The narrow deep channels in the Denmark Strait and around Faeroe Islands are particularly important for the exchange of deep water masses.
