Definition

  • The Technological Institute of the Canary Islands (ITC) is a public enterprise established by the Government of the Canary Islands in 1992, and attached to the Department of Employment, Industry and Trade of the regional government. The competences of the ITC are framed in the fields of Research, Development and Innovation at a regional level, with the aim to fostering technological advancement to improve the quality of life. The ITC supports Islands integral development through the implementation of practices and the deployment of projects related to R&D&i. Furthermore, the ITC supports the Canarian Agency for Research, Innovation and Information Society (ACIISI) in the development of its program of activities. This is designed to encourage and promote technological innovation in local businesses and boost an economy based on knowledge and built on the capabilities of existing research and technological developments in the Canaries. The Technological Institute develops its activities and projects through the Research and Technological Development Division and Technological Innovation Divison, and has offices in the islands of Gran Canaria and Tenerife. It also manages the Business Promotion Units Network (UPE) which covers all the seven islands. (en)
