GEOMAC
Definition
- GeoMAC is an internet-based mapping tool designed to access online maps of current fire locations throughout the United States. Using a standard web browser, users can download fire information. The team is a multi-agency group with experts from the Department of Interior's Fire Management agencies, the Bureau of Land Management, National Park Service, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the Bureau of Indian Affairs, and the Department of Agriculture. Other partners include the National Interagency Fire Center, and NOAA. Private corporations include ESRI, ERDAS, Sun Microsystems, and IBM. These provide mapping software applications, computer hardware and technical help.
