Definition

  • Our work is guided by two core mandatesto ensure the productivity and sustainability of fisheries and fishing communities through science-based decision-making and compliance with regulations, and to recover and conserve protected resources including marine mammals, sea turtles, and fish. The West Coast Region of NOAA Fisheries works in Washington, Oregon, California, and Idaho. Our research, fisheries management, enforcement, and habitat restoration helps recover and conserve protected species such as abalone, salmon, sea turtles, Southern Resident killer whales, and Steller sea lions.
