  • The laboratory operates as an Designated National Agency (DNA) for data management within the International Oceanographic Data and Information Exchange (IODE) system. A main task is to collect, quality control, archive and process hydrographical and hydrochemical data. The archive consists of data collected by Swedish institutes as well as data from the other Baltic countries. Since 1978, when the Swedish Monitoring Programme (PMK) started, also biological data are included in the archive. The laboratory co-operates with the other major marine data collecting institutes, that is, the Swedish Environmental Protection Board (biological data), the National Board of Fisheries (fisheries research) and the Oceanographic Institute at the University of Gothenburg (physical and chemical data). Data and/or products can, on mutual agreement, be available on magnetic tape, formatted printouts, data summaries and inventories, statistical analyses and graphical presentations.
