- The Division of Image Processing (IPR) is part of the General Coordination for Earth Observation (Shutter) of the National Institute for Space Research (INPE). The activities of IPR involve research and development science and technology in digital processing of images from satellites and remote sensing, and GIS, to ensure the technology in this segment is vital to the full utilization of remote sensing. Specifying, designing and developing systems for processing of images and GIS, responsive to the needs Brazil. Encourage the establishment of jurisdiction in image processing, GIS and associated technologies in universities and service companies and users, aiming at the broad use of remote sensing technology in the country.
