Definition
- Launched in 1978, SeaSat was a NASA/JPL Earth Observation experimental mission, which had onboard the first ever spaceborne synthetic aperture radar (SAR) system for science applications. During its brief 106-day lifetime, SeaSat collected more information about the oceans than had been acquired in the previous 100 years of shipboard research. (en)
