Definition
- Ocean-Atmosphere-Ice Interactions (OAII) research seeks to understand the arctic marine environment and its role in climate and global change. The arctic marine environment is an interactive system comprising the water, ice, air, biota, dissolved chemicals, and sediments of the Arctic Ocean and adjacent seas. Through feedback processes that are only partially understood, this system has a significant impact on global climate, and in turn is highly sensitive to environmental perturbations originating elsewhere.
