ANTARCTIC GEODESY
Definition
- Geoscience Australia plays a key role in the Antarctic region through its field work and computations carried out in the Geodesy program, as well as its participation in the Geoscience Standing Scientific Group (GSSG), part of the international committee, Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research (SCAR). SCAR provides a forum for scientists of all countries with research activities in the Antarctic to discuss their field activities and promote cooperation and collaboration in scientific research amongst Antarctic Treaty Nations. The surveying, mapping and geoscientific research activities of Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research are coordinated through the Geoscience Standing Scientific Group.
