Definition
- This product is a cartographic boundary file that delineates the subprovincial geographic areas created for disseminating agricultural statistics from the 2001 Census of Agriculture. The file covers all of Canada except the Yukon, the Northwest Territories and Nunavut. The Census Agricultural Region is the highest geographic level below the province and is usually made up of groups of adjacent Census Divisions (CDs). The exceptions are in Saskatchewan where Census Agricultural Regions are made up of groups of adjacent Census Consolidated Subdivisions (CCSs) which do not necessarily respect Census Division boundaries, and in Prince Edward Island where for the purpose of disseminating statistical data, each of the three existing Census Divisions (counties) is treated as a Census Agricultural Region. In the Prairies, Census Agricultural Regions are commonly referred to as crop districts.
