  • DIAND's Yukon Region has a broad range of responsibilities. The Indian and Inuit Affairs Program has three directorates: Claims and Indian Government, Fiscal Relations & Program Transfers, and Funding, Lands & Trust Services. Funding Services brings together the financial services and financial information systems associated with First Nations' government, education, social assistance, social and economic development, housing and capital construction. Claims & Indian Government represents the Government of Canada in land claim and self-government negotiations. Fiscal Relations & Program Transfers leads the negotiation of Program and Services Transfer Agreements (PSTAs) on behalf of Canada pursuant to the Yukon First Nations Self-Government Agreements. Oher directorates include the Development Assessment Process Directorate, together with its partners, the Council of Yukon First Nations and the Government of Yukon, are working on developing a new environmental assessment process for the Yukon. The Contaminants and Waste Management Division is responsible for cleanup of specific contaminated sites and monitoring contaminants in the environment.
