Definition
- The Department of Mechanical Engineering is home to Mechanical and Industrial Engineering. It is one of thirteen departments in the University of Minnesota's Institute of Technology (IT). IT includes mathematics, the physical sciences, and engineering, a structure that is highly effective at fostering multidisciplinary research and education. For many years, Mechanical Engineering has been ranked among the top ten ME departments nationally. Our Industrial Engineering program is growing and rapidly gaining national and international recognition with leading faculty in several key areas.
