Definition
- The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC) responsibility is to ensure that Tennessee has the cleanest and safest environment, the greatest recreation opportunities, and the most valued natural and cultural resources of any state. Our parks, natural areas and communities will be models of environmental stewardship and prosperity. Three values drive how we accomplish our mission: BALANCE: Achieving the right balance of preserving and protecting natural resources while promoting economic development, and abandoning the notion that one has to be sacrificed to promote the other. RESPONSIBILITY: Influencing cultural change. Promoting acceptance of personal responsibility?looking within ourselves and addressing how each of us can make a difference. ACCOUNTABILITY: Ensuring we are accountable, to you and every citizen for each and every action we take. Website: "http://www.state.tn.us/environment/" [Summary provided by TDEC (en)
