  • The Computer Center for Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Research has been built as a computer facility of cooperative use for all research institutes (29 institutes) of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries. The Computer Center is in Tsukuba Office, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Research Council. There are the Research Computing System, the Network Library System and the Network Information System. The Research Computing System offers using applications, developing databases and high-end programming environments. the Network Library System offers the union catalog in AFFR, the literature database and the full text databases. And the Network Information System supports MAFFIN (Ministry of Agriculture Forestry and Fisheries research Network). In the research institutes there is an institute server as a LAN and the Internet server of the institutes. The institute servers have the Internet server function and a function to store users files as well as functions to constitute the database that is exclusive by use of the institutes. Tsukuba Center and research institutes are connected with networks consists of optical fiber or Switching LAN, frame relay, leased line and ISDN.
