Definition
- The Program for Climate Model Diagnoses and Intercomparison (PCMDI) was established in 1989 at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in the San Francisco Bay area. The PCMDI staff includes research scientists, computer scienctists, and support personel. PCMDI's principal mission is to develop improved methods and tools for the diagnosis,validation and intercomparison of global climate models (GCMs) (what we call a climate modeling infrastructure), and to engage in research on a wide variety of outstanding problems in climate modeling and analysis.
