Definition

  • Parks and Natural Areas fulfill many roles: protecting natural heritage; providing high-quality outdoor recreation opportunities; fostering environmental education/heritage appreciation; and encouraging tourism. The protection of heritage areas, representing a full range of the provincial ecoregions including their natural processes and features and rare natural heritage fall in the care of the Wilderness and Ecological Reserves. Together the Provincial Parks and Reserves make up the system of Parks and Natural Areas. Parks and reserves are protected for the benefit of present and future generations.
