- ESRI (Environmental Systems Research Institute) is a world leader in GIS information. ESRI was founded in 1969 as a privately held consulting firm that specialized in land use analysis projects. Originally located in a historical home among orange groves, the worldwide headquarters of ESRI are now anchored in a multicampus environment in Redlands, California.
