Preferred term

UNM/CWE

Definition

  • The mission of the Center for Water and the Environment is to increase the participation of underrepresented minorities (URM) in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) professions while conducting cutting-edge research into technological and engineering-based solutions to problems with water and the environment, in a framework that considers the social, economic, policy, regulatory, and legal implications. Practical solutions to problems related to water availability in arid environments and in times of drought, and problems associated with energy generation and consumption are particularly relevant to the Center’s mission, in light of the criticality of these issues to the state of New Mexico, the southwestern United States, and their global importance.
