CORNELL/CALS/DE

Definition

  • There are two departments of Entomology at Cornell University. Though spatially separated and administratively distinct, they operate with a joint mission and strategic plan. The Ithaca Department is housed on the Cornell campus and was founded by John Henry Comstock in 1874. The Geneva Department is housed at the New York State Agricultural Experiment Station, which opened in 1882. Collectively, the two departments are firmly rooted in the land grant mission and strive to be recognized for research that encompasses genomes to communities of populations, and for delivering exceptional educational programs to a diverse clientele.
