Preferred term

MENA

Definition

  • The Medium-Energy Neutral Atom (MENA) Imager instrument on the IMAGE spacecraft detects energetic neutral atoms (ENAs) in the energy range 1-30 keV. Like HENA, MENA provides images of the ring current, near-Earth plasma sheet, and the nightside injection boundary. In addition, it images the ion populations of the cusp. The lead investigator for the MENA experiment is Craig J. Pollock, of Southwest Research Institute. For more information, see: http://pluto.space.swri.edu/IMAGE/MENA_description.html (en)
