  • The fundamentals of soil protection and for the planing of land use are a detailed knowledge and ecological evaluation of the existing spectrum of soils. Soils are very important for the filtering of water from precipitation supplying groundwater. The protection of groundwater quality and especially the protection of drinking water resources requires to characterize the filter effects of different soils and document these details within thematic al maps.
