Definition
- The Mesogamma 86 experiment (Phase II) was conducted by NOAA/ETL during the summer of 1986 in northeastern Colorado. The experiment was in part designed to study mesoscale interactions with the small-scale circulations of gust fronts, microbursts, and thunderstorms. One of the main focuses of the experiment was to observe the interaction and evolution of colliding outflow boundaries from thunderstorms. Colliding boundaries are a key factor in mesoscale storm initiation, which is of particular importance to forecasting and local aviation. http://www.etl.noaa.gov/et2/projects/mesogamma.html (en)
