- The ozone depletion observed every spring over the Antarctic continent is currently considered as one of the Earth's most serious environmental problems. The damage in the stratospheric ozone layer was detected two decades ago; since then, it has been systematically studied by different methods: satellites, balloon sounding, and ground stations.
