  • Text Source: http://smsc.cnes.fr/IASI/ IASI, the Infrared Atmospheric Sounding Interferometer is a key payload element of the METOP series of European meteorological polar-orbit satellites. It is developed by CNES in the framework of a co-operation agreement with EUMETSAT. The first flight model was launched in 2006 onboard the first European meteorological polar-orbiting satellites, METOP-A. The second and third instruments will be mounted on the METOP-B and C satellites with launches scheduled for September 2012 and October-November 2016.
