Definition
- The Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences (CIRES) has in recent years increasingly aligned its research along scientific themes rather than organizational structures to foster a more interdisciplinary approach. We are addressing scientific questions of societal relevance and seeking to present results in a meaningful context. These themes are designed to reflect changing priorities and can adapt to a dynamic world as needs evolve. The six themes include four scientific foci, the advanced tools that support them, and the underlying activities and philosophy that integrate them. Themes: Climate System Variability Geodynamics Planetary Metabolism Regional Processes Advanced Modeling and Observing Systems Integrating Activities Website: http://cires.colorado.edu/ [Summary provided by the University of Colorado.] (en)
