Definition
- The Yellow Sea Fisheries Research Institute (YSFRI) of Chinese Academy of Fishery Sciences (CAFS) is one of the multidisciplinary marine fisheries research institutes affiliated to the Ministry of Agriculture. The Institute is mainly engaged in such fields as sustainable utilization of marine living resources, fishery resources and environment, fishery-engineering techniques, etc. During the past fifty years, the Institute had completed more than 800 research projects and obtained 210 scientific and technological achievements, of which two were awarded the first-class prizes of the National Scientific & Technological Progress (NSTP); three were awarded the second-class prizes of NSTP; 12 were awarded the national prizes at various ranks; 71 were awarded the Ministerial and Provincial prizes. Presently, the Institute is undertaking various national projects such as the subjects of the National Key Basic Research Program (973), projects of the National Natural Science Foundation, subjects of the National High-tech R & D Program (863), some of the National Key Technologies R & D Program and some subjects from the Technologies R & D Projects of the province and municipality.
