Definition
- The Colorado Plateau Research Station (CPRS) is one of four research stations within the USGS Southwest& Biological Science Center. This research station was originally established in 1989 as a National Park Service Cooperative Park Studies Unit at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff. The Biological Resource Division (BRD) mission is to work with others to provide the scientific understanding and technologies needed to support the sound management and conservation of our Nation's biological resources. The National Gap Analysis Program determines the distribution and extent of vegetation communities and animal species, and their occurrence in protected areas. The CPRS is contributing to this effort by assessing the accuracy of vegetation maps and distribution of vertebrate species over the Colorado Plateau.
