  • "http://www.serm.gov.sk.ca/" SERM's mandate is to manage, enhance and protect Saskatchewan's natural environmental resources - fish, wildlife, land, forest, parks, prote cted areas, air, water and soil - for conservation, recreation, social and economic purposes, and to ensure they are sustained for future generations. SERM: - administers 37.7 million hectares of Crown land, including 12.2 million hectares of commercial timberland; 34 provincial parks and many recreation and historic sites; protected areas, wildlife refuges and ecological reserves. - is responsible for administering 21 pieces of legislation (e.g. Prairie and Forest Fires Act, Environmental Assessment Act) to ensure a clean, safe environment and healthy ecosystem, and there is fair opportunity for sustainable use, development and enjoyment of our natural renewable resources. - has permanent, full time staff of 887 full time equilivants (FTE's) supplemented by 324 seasonal, part-time and temporary staff FTE's.
