Definition
- STC-METSAT (a division of Science and Technology Corporation) has produced under a NASA sponsored research grant, a blended analysis of global water vapor. This product combines retreivals of precipitable water (or water vapor) from ground-based radiosondes, in microwave frequencies from the Special Sensor Microwave/Imager (SSM/I), and infrared TOVS observations from the NOAA operational series of satellites. The NVAP data-set consists of global grids of 1x1 degree resolution with daily, pentad and monthly averages. The data-set spans 5 years from 1988 - 1992. Information on this data set may be obtained from: "http://www.stcnet.com/projects/nvap.html" The data (formally available from the Marshall Space Flight Center DAAC) is now be available from the EOSDIS NASA Langley Distributed Active Archive Center (DAAC).
