Definition

  • More Information: "http://www.geography.uottawa.ca/" The Laboratory for Paleoclimatology and Climatology (LPC) is a laboratory of the Department of Geography at the University of Ottawa (Ottawa, Ontario, Canada). We are involved in the analysis and modelling of climate changes and their impacts on ecosystems. The emphasis of our work is the analysis of the past (the fossil record) as a way to better understand the present and the future. Our lab is unique in that we combine work typically done by several specialist groups: the gathering and analysis of new paleoecological and paleolimnological data, especially from lake sediment cores, the statistical analysis of databases of environmental change, with an emphasis of spatial analysis, and the modelling of environmental processes. We are dealing with the analysis of many spatio-temporal scales of environmental change. One of the particular interests of the physical geographers in our department is in northern Canada and the arctic and much of the new data we are collecting comes from this region. Feel free to browse our collection, and use the programmes and data we are making available. We are continually adding new material. Proper citations are, of course, expected. For any questions, do not hesitate to contact us. (en)
