- The DEPARTMENT OF GEOLOGICAL SCIENCES And Center For Los Angeles Basin Subsurface Geology (CLABSG),is located at California State University, Long Beach The Center for Los Angeles Basin Subsurface Geology is arepository for subsurface information from more than 12,000 wells located between the latitudes of Ventura, California, and the U.S.-Mexican border. Most of these wells were drilled for oil exploration, but the data collection does include information from geothermal wells in the Imperial Valley. The Center for Los Angeles Basin Subsurface Geology opened in Spring, 2001.
