Definition
- A riometer is a relative ionospheric opacity meter--a specially designed radio receiver for the continuous monitoring of galactic or extragalactic radio noise between 1 and 50 MHz. Riometers track high-latitude, enhanced, atmospheric ionization events known as polar cap absorption. (en)
