EPA/CE/PR/DS/AIR/AFS

Definition

  • The Air Facility System (AFS) contains compliance and permit data for stationary sources regulated by the U.S. EPA and state and local air pollution agencies. AFS is used by some state and local government agencies to track permit data. For further information regarding the air permitting program, visit EPA's Air Permits page. This information is used by the states to prepare State Implementation Plans (SIPs) and to track the compliance status of point sources with various regulatory programs under the Clean Air Act. Tracking of emissions inventories has been moved to the National Emissions Inventory (NEI) database. This site is designed to keep users of the system apprised of new developments. AFS was once a part of AIRS, hence the historical utilization of that term may be incorporated within referenced documentation.
