- The Monterey Area Ship Tracks experiment took place on June 11 - June 30, 1994 on the Central California Coast. The objective of the experiment was to determine if upwelling and emissions from ships and submarines affect cloud formation and if they can be detected remotely by looking for ocean surface temperature and cloud anomolies.
