EARTH SCIENCE REANALYSES/ASSIMILATION MODELS

Definition

  • Models that deal with the retrospective-analyses or reanalyzes of data. Reanalyzes blend the continuity and breadth of output data of a numerical model with the constraint of vast quantities of observational data. The result is a long-term continuous data record. Merging many different observations together with an estimate of the variables provided by the model is the main function of Assimilation models. Global ocean, atmosphere and land surface models are developed as components of assimilation and forecast systems, as well as for addressing the weather and climate research questions. (en)
