Definition
- Since 1972, the Canadian Soil Information System (CanSIS) has supported the research activities of Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada by building the National Soil DataBase, and acting as a source of GIS products and expertise through its personnel, GIS systems, and operating procedures. CanSIS provides access to state of the art GIS facilities, as well as database management and custom mapping services for the Canadian Land Resource Network. CanSIS is part of ECORC, and is located on the Central Experimental Farm in Ottawa. Tours of the facility are available on request, and arrangements can be made to accomodate visiting researchers.
