COSMIC RAYS
Definition
- High energy particles and photons emitted by stellar processes. The highest energies have been observed at 10*8 Tev and are believed to come from shocks emanating from galaxies. Solar cosmic rays are protons observed at 1 Gev, having been accelerated by shocks associated with solar flares. (en)
