  • A principal cloud type, forming in the low levels of the troposphere, characterised by flat bases and dome or cauliflower-shaped upper surfaces. Small, separate cumulus are associated with fair weather, but may grow into towering cumulus or cumulonimbus. In aviation forecasts and reports it is coded as CU. (en)
