  • The Department of Environmental Sciences (DSA), University of Venice was established by Decree of the Rector, October 30, 1982. The DSA is part of the Faculty of Mathematical, Physical and Natural Sciences at the University Ca 'Foscari di Venezia (DSA-UNIV) and comprises approx. 60 lecturers and researchers in technical-scientific, economic and legal. The Department collects multidisciplinary structure and powers of the Chemical, Biological, Ecological, Socio-Economics, Earth Sciences, Law and Applied Mathematics. The DSA is the primary carer of numerous national and international research programs, some of them financed by the European Union and other international bodies. Researchers from the DSA are engaged in projects as coordinators or scientific staff. The DSA since its inception has been actively involved in the development of research concerning the Venice Lagoon and its environmental problems as well as other terrestrial and oceanic environments. Researchers from the DSA have actively participated in the program of National Research in Antarctica.
