Preferred term

OH-STATE/POLARMET

Definition

  • The Polar Meteorology Group plays an important role in the education of graduate students pursuing a degree in the atmospheric sciences. Students work on research projects administered through the Group, recieving stipends and tuition waivers. The Center also aids the student's education by providing an environment for interacting with faculty and other graduate students through the availability of office and laboratory space, shared laboratory and computer equipment, and through seminars. We currently have 2 Ph.D. students and 2 Masters students conducting research, and employ 3 other graduate students part-time. Research interests include (but are not limited to) numerical weather prediction in the high latitudes, cyclone tracking, climate and paleoclimate, boundary layer studies, and the El Nino Southern Oscillation.
